I modded my case fans already so I can turn them off, and I am looking into modding the CPU fan. The card stays cool with no fans when idle. Do you think it would damage the fan if I stuck a piece of tape on the middle one to prevent it from spinning, and just take it off when overclocking? Or maybe solder a variable resister on the fan connecter? But that seems too risky. If I can't control the fans with software, I will have to resort to hardware. If any setting is safe, why have the power limit at all?
And the extra 2% is standard TDP for this card? Does that mean this card uses 5watts less than reference for some reason.
